The lioness did not receive stitches despite the extent of her wound

A further update and photographs by wildlife vet, Sara Ferguson who is working with a dedicated team from the Uganda Wildlife Authority to remove snares from animals within Murchison Falls National Park. With your following and online support we can all raise awareness of the fantastic work being carried out to end #poaching

This was because while it was a relatively “fresh” wound, it was still older than 24 hrs. That combined with it being in what we call a high motion area would increase the likelihood of either the sutures failing and/or abscess formation. Even though it looks bad if she can make it through the next few weeks she should heal fine (lions are incredible!). Uwa received a call about her and coordinated with WCS who actually have a collar on this lioness so were able to track her down and have been monitoring her since, pretty lucky as usually we treat and release and hope for the best!”
