Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is set to become one of the highest-paid managers in the Premier League after he signs his new long-term contract which is expected to be announced very soon.
The Spaniard’s new contract will be a significant increase on his current £9million-a-year salary. Despite having a year left on the current deal, both Mikel Arteta and the Kroenke’s want to tie down his long-term future in North London.
Mikel Arteta returned to the Emirates in December 2019 after taking over from Unai Emery. It’s been a monumental five years in charge for the former Arsenal captain, despite having only one major trophy to his name as we head into the 2024/25 campaign.

The 42-year-old has lead his side to two title races against Manchester City over the last couple of years. The Gunners finished five points off the top in 2022/23 and two points off City last season. The aim ahead of this campaign is to win their first league title in 21 years.
The new terms being offered by Arsenal are expected to be the highest wages ever given to a manager in the club’s history. After he signs his new deal Mikel Arteta is expected to take home close to the £20million-a-year earned by Pep Guardiola. This represents a significant increase from his current contract.
Mikel Arteta’s importance to Arsenal cannot be underestimated. He’s much more than just a manger at this football club and has been given greater responsibility year on year since returning to the club in 2019.
Mikel Arteta is the man who convinces players to move to North London. Once a target has been identified, the Arsenal manager will normally have a few one-on-one discussions with the potential new signing to convince him that the right project is waiting for him at the Emirates Stadium.
In all fairness, it doesn’t usually take much convincing with the position Arsenal currently find themselves in. We saw this with Declan Rice last season who chose the Gunners over Manchester City. More recently Riccardo Calafiori chose to work under Mikel Arteta this summer rather than joining Juventus or Real Madrid.
It’s no surprise Mikel Arteta is set to become one of the highest paid managers in the Premier League. The young coach is the catalyst of one of the most exciting projects on the continent.
David Ornstein recently stated that both Arteta and the club seem keen to continue their partnership together: “This appears to be a very happy marriage, and no evidence to suggest it will not continue.”
