– At least three cars have been reduced to ashes while scores have been injured following the attack

– Eyewitnesses claim they saw about four people in military fatigues near DusitD2 hotel moments before the commotions

– The police managed to isolate one vehicle believed to have been used by the attackers to access the area

– Sources told TUKO.co.ke the attack has been classified as a terror attack but the same has not been made official

Heavy gunshots and explosions have rocked Riverside Drive in Nairobi following a suspected terror attack at the luxurious DusitD2 hotel. 

At least three cars have been reduced to ashes while scores have been injured following the Tuesday, January 15, attack that comes on the anniversary of El Ade attack that claimed lives of many Kenyan soldiers in Somalia.

Police officers have been put on high alert following the attack in the typically high-end settlement and office location.

Eyewitnesses claim they saw about four people in military fatigues near DusitD2 hotel moments before the commotions.

Recce Squad is evacuating people from buildings adjacent to DusitD2 are currently underway even though one person has been confirmed dead. 

It is not clear if or not they were part of the attackers, clients or workers at DusitD2 hotel.

The police managed to isolate one vehicle believed to have been used by the attackers to access the area.

It is claimed one of the attackers hurled a grenade at the vehicles in the parking sparking the fire which consumed the three cars right in front of the hotel entrance.

The area remains cordoned off even as police advises motorists to use alternative routes for easy rescue operations.

Sources have since told TUKO.co.ke the attack has been classified as a terror attack but the same has not been made official.

The attack was well coordinated which lends credence to suggestions it maybe a terror attack.
