Uganda is blessed with a number of primate species with mountain gorillas and chimpanzees being the most outstanding. These are because they share over 95% DNA similar to humans and because of that many seek to meet them in the wild.

The mountain gorilla population is endangered but Uganda is blessed to have half of the remaining population in Bwindi Impenetrable national park. The park is very extensive and has four major sectors with mountain gorillas. Each sector of Bwindi impenetrable national park has nearby accommodation facilities. Ensure to book accommodation in the sector you intend to track gorillas.

Chimpanzees live in major forests in Uganda but the highest population live in Kibale national park in western Uganda. The park is popularly known as the primate capital of the world for its highest chimpanzee population and other primates.

Chimpanzee tracking is the commonly done activity in Kibale national park with high chances of seeing chimps as well as other wildlife.
